Systems using active tags provide greater precision on systems using passive tags. This accuracy is given in part by inclusion of a power supply in the first power allowing a microcontroller and transmit the signal to a receiver in an active, similarly to how a mobile phone sends the signal to a base station so fashion.
In addition, active tags have a range of more than passive reading; therefore, they are more useful for asset tracking applications (people, equipment, items, etc.) to be recognized over longer distances. In general, active tags are powered by long-life batteries; months or even years, but need to be replaced.
In operation Location System it is based on a fixed infrastructure and a set of mobile active tags (these active tags are called locators). Locators send a beacon every two seconds position that is captured by the fixed nodes distributed throughout the facility. Each fixed node, in turn, transmits the signal strength value received by the locator to an agent. Finally this agent performs the necessary calculations and established the position of the locator.
This fixed infrastructure is based on a network of sensors, so that a double advantage is obtained. On one side is a mesh network for the exchange of data from different sensors and actuators placed at the facility; on the other, this infrastructure is a reference to the location system in real time.
All information collected by the network of sensors is transmitted to a central server that handles stored in a database, processing the set of events defined in the system and interact with users. In addition, the system incorporates a control panel where the position of all locators shown in real time.
The management of the entire system is via a web interface that lets you define the parameters of installation art, different levels, the location of the fixed nodes, the definition of alarms and management of the actuators. An application compatible with all mobile devices which can perform the tasks of management and control also included.
